I have learned so much from writing this blog, it really opened my eyes. I see that slavery still is a huge issue.
I guess people don't care about slavery that much because it isn't as terrible as it once was. I think people need to spread the word on slavery and how they can help. What you can do right now is just tell people about slavery. It really helps.

How many slaves work for you? (4)
Alright, if you take this quiz: http://slaveryfootprint.org/
It will tell you how many slaves work for you. What this means is that this quiz will ask thing like: How many electrics do you own? How many shirts do you? How much meat do you eat? Things like that. I got 60, 60 slaves work for me. That quiz was a huge eye opener.
Now to the blog. Slavery still has a impact on black families across the world. Here are seven ways that slavery has left a giant impact.
1. Broken families- We all know that blacks that were enslaved were not given the chance to see or talk to their families. They were property, they were not allowed to legally marry. Any permanent family wasn't a common things for enslaved people.
2. Illiteracy- Children that were slaves were not given the option of school. It was illegal to teach black slaves to read or write.
3.Broken Traditions - The slave trade broke up husbands, children, and wives by selling them to different families. That was one way the slave trade broke traditions.
4. Unpaid workforce- This plain, old unpaid labour. Slaves would work early in the morning until late at night. The women usually would return to work shortly after giving birth. The women would run to the fields to feed their children.
5.Mortality Rate- More than half of the infants died before the age of one. The black mortality rate was almost double that of the white people.
6. Broken Legacy- When the slaves' owner would die all of the slave families were broken. Or when the owner's kids grew up and moved away, they would often take some of the slaves with them.
7.Rape of women- The slave women were always being raped by white men. There was no law against this abuse. A black woman's body was not her own. It was passed from one white person to the next, it was sold.

There are so many more effects that slavery has left.

Modern Day Slavery? (3)
Contemporary Slavery (Modern slavery)
Also known as institutions of slavery that are still happening in the present day. These institutions are estimated up to $35 billion dollars made. The United Nations think that around 27 to 30 million people are right now caught in the industry of slave trade. Then the 2014 Global Slavery Index comes and says that they got data from 167 countries. Unfortunately, 35.8 million people are reportedly enslaved worldwide. 14 million of those are in India.

Both numbers are pretty high. To help you it is 1 in every 280 people.
Slavery comes in 5 most common forms:
Domestic Servitude: Working in private homes, forced to serve and not be able to leave. It is sort of like being a maid but you can't say no or you can't leave.
Sex Trafficking: Children, men and women are either forced/ held against their will and/or manipulation into the sex industry.
Forced Labour: being forced to work under the threat or actual violence, for no pay. These types of slaves are thought of as property, and are abused to make product for their "master" to sell.
Bonded Labour: Individuals are compelled to work to repay a debt. They are not allowed to leave until the debt is paid.
