Slavery was the worst in the Caribbean and the States. Usually when someone says "The Caribbean" you think of this beautiful island. It is hard to believe that a lovely place like that once was a nightmare.
Blacks were taken from their home, taken from everything. Slaves were taken on a ship, leaving their families behind. They were beaten, and chained. The black slaves were from Africa and they were also bought. Slaves in the Caribbean were demanded to plant and make sugar canes and other crops for the triangle trade. The Americas were the cause of this demand.
People would sail from Europe, they would first stop in Africa and they would trade weapons, metal, liquor, etc. Then they would go to Caribbean and the slaves would trade rum, salt, sugar cane and other naturally grown thing on the islands.
In 1518, Spain licensed Portuguese traders to ship slaves directly from Africa to the Americas and the first ship load came that year.
